The number one way to help it to become a volunteer firefighter. Stop by the station anytime you see the doors open or a personal vehicle outside to fill out an application. Being a volunteer first responder, you will be there for your friend, neighbor, or stranger to help mitigate what could be their worst day.

The Lawton Community Fire Department had one of the longest running student program until recently, when an issue with our insurance put a hold onto the program. Now back up and running, the Lawton Community Fire Department accepts applications from high school students in the Lawton-Bronson School District and in the Lawton fire district to fill 4 student positions. They respond to emergencies like our other first responders, but they have some restrictions on what they can and cannot do. Being a crucial aid to a department where most of the volunteers commute 10+ minutes to work every day, these students can aid in firefighting operations during the work day.
