Equipment

The Lawton Community Fire Department has six apparatuses to aid in firefighting, motor vehicle extrication, and other emergencies we could encounter. The 58 on our trucks serves a purpose. Every department in the county has a distinguished number they are associated with. Our number is “58,” which is why you may notice this number recurring frequently.

engine 58

Engine 58 is Lawton Community Fire Department’s front line pumper. Responding to structure fires and motor vehicle accidents, this truck sits on a custom Spartan Cassi. Fully loaded with room for 6 firefighters and many different tools for structural firefighting, vehicle extractions, and other emergencies.

Tanker 58

Tanker 58 carries 2300 gallons of water, and alone carries more water than all of our other trucks combined. This truck is a 2015 International and is equipped with a drop tank, extra hose, a small pump, and other water related firefighting equipment.

90

90 is a 1990 Chevy pumper - tanker. This truck was the frontline pumper until 10 years ago when Engine 58 showed up. Upon the arrival of Engine 58, “90” was converted into a tanker, but it can still pump water like Engine 58. “90” is equipped with many of the same types of tools as Engine 58, but also has a drop tank and dump shoot similar to that on Tanker 58.

rescue 58

Rescue 58 is a 2008 4x4 Chevrolet 2500 with a tool box on the back which includes a slide out tray. Equipped with motor vehicle extraction tools, this truck is used as the first response unit for car collisions. This truck was purchased with the help of the ambulance department and contains emergency medical equipment. Members of the ambulance department can use this truck if the ambulance is out on another call. You may also see Rescue 58 pulling the Polaris around while responding to grass fire calls.

brush

The Grass truck is a 2004 Ford V10 F350 4x4. This truck is the first truck out of the station on a grass fire. It is equipped with a 250 gallon tank and a small pump along with other tools which may be needed in the brush, including a chainsaw, axe, bolt cutters, extra hose, and other tools.

polaris

This is the Lawton Community Fire Department’s newest piece of equipment. This side by side replaced our old 1999 6x6 polaris. The 2019 Polaris was made possible due to the 2018 pancake feed. Equipped with a 75 gallon tank and small pump, this vehicle can go to places the grass truck cannot. It also sits on a new 20’ long trailer.
